W reg Mk1 Fiesta 1300 Ghia in Cobalt Blue Metalic. Low miles at the time. Paid £500 for it in 1990. Good car but had the options of no boot floor at all, and the main floor had rotted away too. Spent about 2 months of weeks welding the dam thing. Then got tempted by the Vauxhall badge and that was it...............................

A Targa red 1988 E reg Rover 213S.

My parents bought it as a second car when we had a Montego Smiley in 1993, then it shared the driveway with the Carlton until I inherited it when the rents bought a Corsa (absolute bag of poo).

The Rover was a great first car. Smooth, quiet, reliable, economical and comfortable. Actually handled well too despite being very softly sprung.
Girls in my 6th form prefered it to the fiestas and Novas everyone else had Wink

A metro??? god, make me feel good now!!! The first car I bought but never had on the road was a 1971 Morris Minor which had fook all going for it. Paid £50 quid and was a total shed. That was 1988. That car was going nowhere. Then bought a 1967 one exactly the same, only better body wise, but was still a dog.
All gone now.

MK2 Cavalier:
History as follws:

Bought 1987 SRI 1.8 in 1994. Loved the car, but lived on the sea coast and was pretty rotten. Also been smashed and badly repaired e.g. no welding repirs to inner wing all braised> unraveld in the end.

Then bought another one from the breakers for 60 quid. Bust engine and 4 speed bob (1.6). Ripped the lot out and put in 1.8 SRI stuff with 1.6 inlet manifold and aftermarket weber replacement carb. By fook, that car went. Even scared the SRI Cav's of the time.

Lat on i had cam of a mate for 50 Quid. He bought it in the early 90'S for 5 grand. Front of the car from the bumper to the 'C' post was imac. After that, all went wrong. More hollier than the pope.

Still bloody good cars thogh. Cant get one up here for love nor money, regardlaess of spec/engine type

Beige Mk1 Granada 2.0 Base Saloon reg. UNU 916S.  Bought 1994 for £40 with 64k on the clock solid underneath needed panels.  Four doors, two wings, bonnet and paint looked fantastic!!  Went surprisingly well (OHC Pinto Engine) - ended up on the banger track though five years later.......Had two other Mk1's (one was a '73 Consul V4 minter with 39k on the clock!!, the other an Estate) and a Mk2 (not as good as the Mk1).  Still have a soft spot for Mk1 and will buy another one day........

Always liked big motors, Granada/Scorpio (jellymould) pile of poo, Carlton much superior!!!!  Vauxhall's MUCH better than Fords late 80's to 90's!!

Now dont laugh here  Grin  Shocked

But my very first car was a Yugo 45a H reg 18,000 miles and was in mint condition, until i got my hands on it.  I then got hold of a Yugo 65a glx body kit, stuck it on with twin pipes and air vents on the bonnet and looked the dogs.

My second car was a Yugo Sana 1.4 G Reg was a good car but constant problems with electrics and because of the war in yugoslavia there were rarer that rocking horse poo.

My third car a ford mondeo 1.8 lx L Reg was a very nice ride until the engine let go because of constant overheating.

Then on to my beast now for 4 years Vauxhall Carlton 2.0i Diplomat K Reg - nuff said

I had one of those too in 1992. Sat off the rod for 10 years and was low milage. 3ltr V6 Ghia in Jupiter Red Metalic with Tan roof. Went through MOT after work the bearings went. Car sat off road for another 10 years and went bad like a rotten pear and got scrapped. Bought a heap of pannels to restore it, but moved house. Great car with big smile factor. Got me on to Carltons as I liked big cars (and the boss had a Carlton Estate at the time).

If you still have the panels for Mk1 Granada, let me know if you want to sell them as I keep in touch with people who still buy and restore them.

My first car was a 1966 Pampas Green Viva HB 1159 Deluxe. it was totally immaculate, and low mileage. Real stunner, and the chrome was like new - far better looking than all my mates' cars (Escort MK1, mainly), and most of them said so too!

Put a tiny steering wheel on it and it ended up in a ditch............oops! Embarrassed
